Okay, not yet really super but I couldn’t resist the outstanding opportunity for alliteration. The Gatlinburg area preliminary real estate unit sales numbers for September are in and they are already greater than the results for August which is a very good sign. Although the month has ended the normal routine is that real estate agencies continue to post sales for the month for at least a week and sometimes two weeks after the month has ended. If this is the case for September, and I know of no reason why it won’t be, we may well have the best month of the year. We will almost without a doubt have one of the better months of 2008 after all the dust settles in a few days. Here is a look at the Great Smoky Mountain Association of Realtors MLS results as they are reported today:

If you remember my earlier post about the pace of activity on our website you know that our www.GatlinburgHomes.com site has served up more pages to viewers recently and this does normally translate in an increased sales pace. To try and get a feel for how our Smoky Mountain real estate market looks going forward from here I took a new look at our websites pages viewed stats and am able to confirm that the number of pages viewed daily continues to increase as well.

All of this is confirmed by my own recent experience and that is that we have been VERY busy. At this point October looks as if it will be my best month of the year as we already have 3 transactions closed in October and 5 more pending sales on the books. If more other agents were having this sort of start to the month we would expect to have a very strong October indeed. Unfortunately, most of our area’s real estate agents (and agencies) are not yet having this level of success. Sadly, many real estate professionals are still facing the very real possibility of being forced out of the business for financial reasons. As one agent I know put it: “I can no longer finacially support my real estate career habit”.
